The trek will explore how education, technology, and innovation are shaping contemporary China through university visits, industry and cultural experiences, discussions with educators and professionals, and exchange with local students.
Program Overview
Join the 2026 China Education and Technology Trek, a nine-day immersive learning and cultural experience traveling through Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Nanjing from December 13–21, 2026.
Designed for undergraduate and graduate students interested in education, technology, innovation, China, and cross-cultural exchange, the program offers a firsthand look at how education and innovation are evolving in contemporary China. Participants will visit education technology companies and local K–12 schools, engage with local students and educators, and experience China’s nationally recognized intangible cultural heritage traditions through hands-on cultural activities.
Beyond the visits themselves, the trek is designed to create meaningful opportunities for conversation, reflection, and connection—helping participants better understand China through its schools, technologies, communities, and living cultural traditions.

Who Should Apply?
This Trek welcomes current students and recent graduates of U.S. colleges and universities who are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of China’s education system, technology sector, and contemporary society.
We especially encourage applications from students interested in:
- Education, learning sciences, and K–12 education
- Educational technology, AI, and innovation
- Chinese culture and contemporary society
- International and cross-cultural education
- Technology, entrepreneurship, and social innovation
Students from all academic disciplines are welcome. Ideal participants are curious, open-minded, respectful of different perspectives, and ready to participate actively in school visits, company visits, cultural experiences, student exchanges, and group discussions.
Applicant Profile
- Be currently enrolled at a U.S. college or university, or be a recent graduate
- Hold a valid passport and meet applicable visa requirements
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in cross-cultural exchange
- Be willing to engage thoughtfully with fellow participants throughout the program
No prior experience in China or Chinese-language proficiency is required.
